Latitude 16 Organic Gin is a contemporary Australian dry gin distilled and bottled in Sydney by Coast Distillery, at 40% ABV in 700ml. It is made with certified organic sugar cane spirit and twelve botanicals, built on an organic juniper backbone with pink grapefruit, Australian native finger lime, lime, orange and coriander seed.
Yes. Latitude 16 is built on certified organic sugar cane spirit, certified by ACO Certifications to the ACO, NOP and EU organic standards under Certificate No. 11344. The botanicals are organic, including organic juniper, organic coriander and organic pink grapefruit.
Latitude 16 is distilled with twelve botanicals. Organic juniper is the backbone, joined by pink grapefruit, Australian native finger lime, lime, orange and coriander seed, over a base of warm spice and root botanicals. The pink grapefruit is flesh-distilled rather than peel-only, which gives the gin a rounder mouthfeel and softer citrus weight than a standard citrus-forward gin.
The nose is vibrant pink grapefruit, finger lime and zesty citrus. The palate is soft and smooth with layered fresh citrus, rounded by the flesh distillation. The finish is clean and bright with earthy botanical depth underneath. International Wine & Spirits Competition judges described sweet spice and juniper leading into a creamy palate with pine and citrus, finishing dry with earthy hints of cardamom.
Latitude 16 Organic Gin is 40% alcohol by volume, bottled in 700ml. Recommended retail price is A$88. The bottle is a custom mould designed by Vert Design with ripples cast into the glass, finished with a beechwood cap.
Latitude 16 has won nine awards across six competitions. These include Gold for Label and Surface Design at the Melbourne Royal Australian International Spirits Awards 2026 scoring 93 out of 100, plus Silver for Contemporary Gin and Silver for Gin & Tonic at the same competition. It has also won a Bronze medal with 88 points at the International Wine & Spirits Competition 2026, Silver at the Asia World Spirits Competition 2026, Bronze in the Classic category of the Fever-Tree G&T Cup 2026, a Merit award in Clear Spirits at The Dieline Awards 2026, and a Gold Mark and Black Mark at the World Brand Design Society Creative Design Awards 2025/26. Latitude 16 is distilled and bottled in Sydney, Australia, by Coast Distillery. The gin is inspired by a secluded coral cay on the Great Barrier Reef at 16 degrees south latitude, off the coast of Cape Tribulation where the Daintree Rainforest meets the sea. That is the place behind the name, not the place it is produced.
The name refers to the 16th parallel south, the line of latitude that passes through a secluded coral cay on the Great Barrier Reef off Cape Tribulation. It is one of the few places where two UNESCO World Heritage sites meet, the Reef and the Daintree Rainforest. The ripples cast into the bottle glass echo the water around the cay, and the label references reef coral.
Our favourites are Capi Classic, StrangeLove Coastal and Fever-Tree Mediterranean Light. Their softer botanical profiles sit under the citrus rather than competing with it. Build 1:3 over ice in a large glass with a fresh slice of pink grapefruit or a citrus twist. A 50/50 blend of tonic and soda makes a good Sonic if you want the citrus to carry further.
